Training for upcoming HSBC charity Run 19th May 2012

The group energy was awesome! for most of us, we do not run / jog on a regular basis,  However We try to finish our run. though we made couple of pauses halfway to catch our breaths.   Hopefully the same energy keep us up and accomplish the HSBC Charity run we will be participating next month!OMPlace participant, Cheers!

Balacing Salabhasana -the Locust

Practising this hatha classical pose - Salabhasana ( The locust ) with a stool adds a bit challenge in balance. The key is right the midsection , similarly the practice on the floor. but this version works less muscular energy demand to lift the body away from the gravity. i modify it from a simple Kong Fu work-out. The primary benefit of this pose helps strengthening the back and the spine. It also gives a good " hint" how the midsection is engaged in the forearm balancing pose - Pincha Mayurasana.

It 's always been nice time to practice with a hanful of students on Sunday Morning once a week @ Jerudong Park Medical Center. especially this enthusiastic guy. A Secondary school teacher , muslim. He starts his practice since 2007.  It is such a rewarding Sundays when you see how much he has progressed and how persistent he is!! at least  a " perk" to continue doing my job the best.

Splash !!Waterfalls, according to Buddists , represent the "permanent impermanence" of the cosmos. In Japan, followers of the Shinto faith hold watefalls sacred  , and standing beneath one is said to purify the soul. Seek out a watefall - if possible , bathe in the spray where it tumbles into the waters below.Gravity exerts a tremendous force -without it , there would be no universe. Behold , in the waterfall , the power of gravity made visible.

Letting go means giving up attachment to results. When you understand that you do not have to try hard. your can give up the fight for results, because you know that ultimately things will work out as they should. Desiring a certain goal in a pose and working to achieve it is different from trying to control the outcome. Just be willing to relax and let go. Know that if one door closes, five new doors will open up. That is true faith: trusting that natural ebb and flow of life.

sometimes the storms of life can leterally bring us to our knee. We spend our whole lives resisting the idea of surrender; we see it as weakness ,as giving up. Then suddenly we hit a point where we realize that the moment of " letting go" is not when life is over. it is when life really begins.

You will only feel lost if you didn't commit wholeheartedly in the first place. Commitment plus courage takes you right where you want to be.

Progressed Sequence in Alignment II class includes various breakdown steps and the opening segments -the chest , the lower back , hamstrings , the front thighs and inner thighs to prepare for more advanced poses like Stupa Padangustasana , Kraunchasana , Supta Bhekasana and Modified Ekapada Viparita Dandasana and ekapada Urdhva Dhanurasana. As usual , get the major group of muscles and joints warm-up and move the spine in all directions, do modified Matyasana ( the fish pose ) to open up the chest.  And do few rounds of sun Salutation and add The Chair & high lunge further to heat up the entire body. especially the hips regions. Practice tool needed for the sequence - A chair , 8 or 10 feet long yoga Belt , a firm yoga block. a folded blanket to cushion the knees or ankles for those having the problems or injury in these areas.
