Tripsichore Yoga Workshop -Edward Clark ( 15 - 17 May 2009 )

Up Close & personal with Edward Clark

I learnt about Edward Clark from a Yoga & Health Megazine ,2007 Jan Issue , which introduced his unique creation - Tripsichore Yoga, or you could call it as a modern contemplative style of yoga. it blends gracefully dance choregraphy with the Yoga Discipline ( primarily work on a variety of Bandha & breathing principles ) .

Tripsichore pronounces - Trip-sic-Uh-ree,the chore is pronounced like the begining of Choregraphy. The Name is derived from the Greek muse of Dance Terpsichore.

i was amazed at his pic , showing some unusual arm balancing , he looked more like an Arobatic performer and a ballet dancer than a Yogi. Now it's quite an exciting feel to get up & close personal with him LIVE in his exciting , compelling , entertaining workshop held at True Yoga , in Singapore ( 15 - 17 May 2009 ). Edward Clark's a real Yogi, his pleasant talk , accommodating approach in teaching ( most people might get intimidated by his pic ) , his toned and supple phsique. He explained well enough how to apply the techniques and the yoga pilosophy with his insightful perception. there's more than just a stylish ,sweating , physical demanding asanas / vinyasa you might find at first. The practice made you present mindfully. you have to focus on each move , each breath , each transition.

The workshop in a nutshell , we were introduced to some extraordinary Tripsichore Sun salutation variations,(;like how to crow into a handstand ,etc) and some of the unusual asana of balance , inversions , backbend , that rarely taught and practiced moves from the vast repertoire of yoga. Fun!

Edward made the workshop adaptable for everyone

Exciting , fun pose to play with a flying Koundiyasana ii balancing

Edward in flying arm balancing Engle pose

Edward demo a variation of arm balancing pose

unusual Inversion variations

Edward Demo an advanced Backbending in Inversion technique

Edward assisted a student in Handstand balance

Edward assisted a student in Forearm variation

This's it!it came to the culmination of the weekend study to put all elements & plays into ...fast flowing ,adventurous ,graceful & daring move.

these are two of many interesting plays of transition ;

From an Inversion Shoulderstand moving into Backbending camel , and entering into an arm balancing pose - Peacock, wow that's challenging;

another play was from the wheel to single leg wheel and move into half single leg bent wheel and transit into a standing reversed Triangle pose.

it was inspiring to join this workshop ,though , i am still a beginner of advanced vinyasa ,or/ Tripsichore yoga practitioner. but i LOVE it. it gave many invaluable ideas & tips on how the sequence can be varied and reconstructed. This is something i enjoy i 'd love to spice up the usual vinyasa practice with a bit Tripsichore tastee...fun , playful , fuildity flow; at the same time , work on building ups for full practice.
