Vinyasa Yoga Workshop with Vincent Tam ( 10th Sat & 11th Sun April )

All levels are welcomed to join this workshop!!!

Vinyasa is a flow practice that integrates fluidity and strength , alignment and inner awareness , movement and stillness. To flow gracefully and effortlessly in and out of poses. It's essential to stay vibrant and grounded in the breath. This workshop is based on a study of the essential activity of mula Bandha and the strong grounding effect of practicing correct Ujjayi Pranayama

Saturday Date ( Apr 10th ) : 1:30pm - 4:30pm

Building the foundation : Learn the foundation of a solid practice through alignment , core awareness , and breathing techniques. Understand the basic principles of Sun Salutation A and B and how they are the cornerstone of every vinyasa practice. Discover preparation , inner cues and dissection of the fundamentals of standing poses, backbends , twists and inversions.

Saturday Date ( Apr 10th ): 5:30pm - 8:30pm

Flying High : Arm Balance within vinyasa requires focus , creates gracefully strength , and builds confidence. We will explore alignment of upper body in beginner and advanced version of arm poses and learn to " fly" while staying connected to the breath and spirit.

Sunday Date ( Apr 11th ) : 9:30am - 13:30pm

Upside Down World : Because of the way the organs of the heart and lungs are nourished , going upside down is an invaluable way to elevate one's spirit. We'll lay a stable foundation for students so they can build the confidence and self-trust to do inversions safely. We will then learn a sequence that incorporates inversions.

Sunday Date ( Apr 11th ) : 2:00pm - 5:00pm

Twisting Your Way : Twists and sidebends bring tremendous energy to the body and reduce asymmetry in the sacrum and lower back. We will emphasize supine , standing and seated spinal twists that have a wringing effect on the internal organs and promote abundant circulation of blood thorugh all the spinal nerves.

In Brief

February

Firstly ,with immeasurable gratitude, none of this would be possible ( throughout the year 2009) without the support , the love of all students. on the second of February ,OMPlace Studio blissfully celebrates its one year anniversary. heartfelt thank you ALL! Hopefully, OMPlace continues to carry on the tagline - " Breathe is Life , Life is Yoga " and serves the best it could in 2010.

Our classes cater for everyone, all sizes ,& anyone looking for an alternative wellness plan

from 3rd - 7th , I'v attended 30- hours Edward Clark's Tripsichore Yoga in Kuala Lumpur @ Vincent Tam owned - Jiva Yoga Studio. There 're a lot of Inversions and Arm balances practice and there's so much information / techniques to process. The training module covered the primary tools of vinyasa / asana practice - the Ujjayi Breathing and the Bandha ( the lock ) - Mula Bandha & Uddiya Bandha technique that are used to take one deeper into the experience of asana and to facilitate the evenness of vinyasa. Asana and vinyasa have radically different approaches to the same end. Both endeavour ro find a kind of extremity - stillness and movement. Edward and his Assistant -Nikki are simply phenomenal. They make most of advanced tricky poses so easy and flawless!

I like the creative sequence of Tripsichore Sun Salutations. They are catagorized with different series - Khuta , Deko , Khonundrum , Khogolexus and Advanced level Supreme. Each series is challenging. All transitions from one pose to another are connected in a dance-like choregraphy through the inversions - headstand , tripod headstand . Handstand , Arm balance and the backbend that makes his tripsichore vinaysa unique and fun practice.

Annei Eng and Cyarhine shared their food - Lau Sen and the Vegeterian Cake

This is the fourth year to run the outdoor morning yoga session @ Jerudong Park Medical Center. It is encouraging to see two of the longtime students grow from zero ,from stiff to limber. they 've been making satisfying progress to date. I also continue my service with the Empire Hotel & Country Club for the second year. Thank the Empire group for the beautiful wedding gift , and your lovely message in the greeting card - it goes like this " Marriage is like yoga , it becomes more flexible as the years go by". i will work it out!

The CCA progamm is also back to the Matab Sains School every Thursdays. The group for this year is formed by A- level ,Form 5 and two of Form 2 students and the chief teacher in charge - Ms Angela.
